Sophie, Princess of Windisch-Graetz (born Sophie Franziska Maria Germaine of Habsburg-Lorraine, Archduchess of Austria, 19 January 1959) is a member by birth of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, and by marriage of the German House of Windisch-Graetz.
==Biography==
Sophie was born on 19 January 1959, the daughter of Archduke Ferdinand Karl of Austria and of Helene, Countess zu Toerring-Jettenbach. Her father was a first cousin of Otto of Habsburg, the last Crown Prince of Austria-Hungary, and her mother was a daughter of Princess Elizabeth of Greece and Denmark, the sister of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark the Duchess of Kent. Through her mother is related with Queen Sofía of Spain and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, making her distant cousin of Charles, Prince of Wales and also second cousin of the current Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and actress Catherine Oxenberg.
As Sophie Habsburg, she moved to Spain to pursue a career as a model and became an international jet set personality. She had worked as a fashion journalist in Madrid, before marrying the head of the Windisch-Graetz House, the German-Italian prince Mariano Hugo of Windisch-Graetz in Salzburg.
